EREZIONE DELL’ORDINARIATO PERSONALE DI THE CHAIR OF SAINT PETER E NOMINA DEL PRIMO ORDINARIO
Oggi la Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede, a norma della Costituzione Apostolica Anglicanorum coetibus, ha eretto l'Ordinariato Personale di The Chair of Saint Peter nel territorio della Conferenza Episcopale degli Stati Uniti d'America.
Nello stesso tempo il Papa ha nominato primo ordinario il reverendo Jeffrey Steenson. Già vescovo episcopaliano, il reverendo Steenson ha 59 anni, è sposato e ha tre figli.
Nel 2009 è stato ordinato sacerdote cattolico.
Ricordiamo che la Costituzione Apostolica Anglicanorum coetibus, firmata da Benedetto XVI il 4 novembre 2009, intende rispondere alle numerose richieste pervenute alla Santa Sede da gruppi di ministri e fedeli anglicani desiderosi di “entrare nella piena e visibile comunione con la Chiesa cattolica” permettendo loro di conservare “elementi dello specifico patrimonio spirituale e liturgico anglicano”.
Nel contempo il Santo Padre Benedetto XVI ha nominato primo Ordinario il Reverendo Jeffrey Neil Steenson.
